Final Pedestal Table Photos

The old-timers I used to work with called woodworkers "mechanics." If, as the dictionary says, a mechanic is "a manual laborer or artisan," then I guess the term fits. On this woodworking blog I share photos and thoughts about my projects past and present. I wholeheartedly welcome your comments, questions, criticisms, and reflections!

the table looks awesome, great photos.
Table looks great. Did you use ball-bearing drawer runner to extend the table? I always find extendable table hard to pull out the runner must make it so much easier.
Thanks, Jiddo. Yes, I did use ball-bearing drawer slides to extend the table. In the shop where I learned woodworking, we made old-school wooden slides, but those always left me dissatisfied. With the ball-bearing slides, I could pull the table open with one hand without even disrupting the other half. I wish I could claim the idea as my own, but I read about it in Fine Woodworking.
I love the way you inscribe the piece.
What does the quotation say? I think it is italian, but the Google translator tells me it means "Atavalo no fun old" which makes very little sense.
Looking forward to the next post!
Tim.......table came out wonderfully, I really appreciate you taking us through the process. I'd read that table slide approach, but never saw it applied. Interesting how so many different approaches evolve.
Thanks.......Neil
The table is truly beautiful.
